Philippines Mission Trip

A Journey of Service, Connection, and Compassion

Our recent mission trip to Manila, Philippines was a meaningful experience focused on service, connection, and learning. Our team had the opportunity to visit Hospicio de San Jose, one of the oldest charitable institutions in Asia, where we spent time supporting residents with special needs through activities, donations, and shared moments of community.

About Hospicio de San Jose

Founded in 1810, Hospicio de San Jose has supported vulnerable communities in Manila for over two centuries, providing care and shelter for orphans, the elderly, and people with disabilities. During our visit, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and experienced the peaceful environment of this historic institution.

Girls with Special Needs

The girls' residential area provides a similar supportive environment. They participate in activities that encourage independence, personal growth, and social interaction. Several of the girls also attend school as part of their educational development.

Residents with Autism and Mobility Needs

One section of the facility supports residents with autism who use wheelchairs. This space is designed to accommodate mobility needs while providing attentive care and daily assistance from dedicated staff members.

Boys with Special Needs

Another section is home to boys with special needs who are physically able to move around independently. With the guidance of their house parent, they participate in daily activities that help build social and life skills. Some of the boys also attend school, where they continue their education and interact with others.

A Meaningful Impact

As part of the visit, our team provided donations to support the residents’ recreational activities. These included:

  • Basketballs

  • Volleyballs

  • Badminton equipment

  • T-shirts

  • Ribbons

These items were meant to encourage play, teamwork, and joyful engagement in daily activities.
